1. Darius Garland

Darius Garland is the clear top candidate for the Phoenix Suns with the 6th pick. They have a huge need at the point guard spot and they need that filled before they can take this team to the next level. They have good young talent, but they still have a long ways to go towards developing this team into a playoff contender.

Garland has only played in five college games due to a meniscus injury in his left knee. It’s disappointing not being able to see him on the floor but he has shown enough in his high school career and in the few college games he played in to warrant him being selected in the lottery.

In his five college games he played in he averaged 16.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists and he shot the ball well. He shot 54% from the field including a 48% clip from three-point range. He had three really good performances in what was essentially four games played as he played just two minutes in his final game.

The team has really struggled without him as well which shows how valuable he is. They won all four games he was healthy in and since then they are just 5-21 including their 0-17 record in SEC play which shows how much of an impact he made on Vanderbilt.

He wasn’t measured at the combine, but he is listed at 6’2″ and 174 pounds which are a fine size for an NBA point guard. Some will be bigger than that, but he is more than capable of holding his own. If he were to stay healthy many people believe that he would actually be the top-ranked point guard in this draft class ahead of Ja Morant.

The Phoenix Suns have struggled to build their roster despite having a lot of young talent. They have a huge need at the point guard position and adding Darius Garland to the mix would be big-time. He should be their top prospect on their list and some believe that they have already given him a promise that he will be their pick at No. 6.
