The first Australian player ever to be taken with the first pick in the NBA Draft, Andrew Bogut would have a successful, yet limited, career in the NBA. He is an NCAA Player of the Year, NBA Champion and NBL Most Valuable Player, whose production in the association did not necessarily reflect his skill.

Coming out of Utah, Bogut was expected to continue his NCAA success at next level. His rookie season would set the stage for what would become a solid run with the Milwaukee Bucks. Not only did he help lead the Bucks to their best season in a decade, he also earned All-NBA Third Team honors and earned a shot-blocking crown.

Keeping in line with the pattern of lower body injuries to big men, Bogut’s successful career in Milwaukee would come to an end after ankle issues led to his trade to the Golden State Warriors.

His role would be drastically reduced, but he would help the Warriors win the first NBA Championship of their current dynasty. With Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson taking on most of the scoring duties, Bogut joined Draymond Green as a defensive specialist and excelled.

It may be surprising to see Bogut so high on this list, over players like Ben Simmons, Kenyon Martin and Andrew Wiggins, but his decrease in production was due in large part to the incredible play of his teammates.

When you play with the Warriors as a role player, you are not asked to play at an NBA All-Star caliber level. This did not prevent him from being a fan favorite and returning this year to help provide relief in Golden State’s injury-riddled frontcourt.

Career averages: 9.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 blocks per game
