Memphis Basketball: Analyzing early offers to top 2020 recruits
Isaiah Todd – Raleigh, NC
PF | 6-foot-10 | 195 lbs | No. 12 overall
One of the more versatile bigs in the 2020 class, Isaiah Todd is intriguing due to his fit in the modern game. At 6-foot-10 with a smooth perimeter jump shot and variety of post moves, he is extremely difficult to stop defensively. He is also blossoming as a ball-handler, which makes him all the more dangerous as a perimeter option at his height. Of course, Todd will definitely need to add some muscle before taking a “star” role in college but he has plenty of time.
Todd has also flashed solid defensive timing on the defensive end during the EYBL circuit. He is swatting over one shot per game and can improve on that end with added strength as he will be able to defend bigger bodies that way. High ceiling.
Memphis was included in Todd’s final 10 schools, which were announced in mid-April.
EYBL Stats (8 games): 17.4 ppg (.446/.355/.651), 9.4 rpg, 1.2 bpg
Jalen Suggs – Minneapolis, MN
CG | 6-foot-5 | 185 lbs | No. 9 overall
An elite two-sport athlete (with football), Jalen Suggs has no shortage of athleticism. With high-level shot-making at all three levels as well, the expectation is that Suggs would be a score-first shooting guard at the collegiate level. He sees the floor well enough to be a solid secondary creator with the potential of growing into more of a playmaker as he refines his game. For the time being, his impact is mainly seen through filling up the basket but he should grow into an above-average defender as well due to his physical gifts.
He has really been stuffing the stat sheet on the UAA circuit so far this year as he is nearly recording 20/5/5 per game on efficient shooting slashes. Hard to argue with his level of production. Memphis also reportedly watched him play in late-April.
UAA Stats (11 games): 19.5 ppg (.490/.310/.770), 6.5 rpg, 5.7 apg
