Oklahoma State Cowboys

The clear outlier of the group, the 12-20 Cowboys may be primed to become the breakout power conference program soon. Head coach Mike Boynton already has secured a top-25 recruiting class for 2019, led by a trio of four-star recruits. Not only that, the team already secured 2020 point guard Davonte Davis for the following season.

Oklahoma State has been recruiting Cunningham for the longest time and the relationship built could very well pay off. The Cowboys are even considered the current favorites to land him. He’d become the star player and focal point of a Big 12 team what will have some good talent by the 2020-21 season. Similar to Anthony Edwards going to Georgia, it could end up being a win-win scenario.

There’s also a possibility that Boynton might not be around by the following offseason if the team continues to be at the bottom of the Big 12. Depending on how this plays out, Cunningham may end up picking a safer option with a blue blood.

Odds – Great but should be cautiously optimistic

Texas Longhorns

Sort of the “hometown” option of the group, Shaka Smart and Texas seems to land a five-star prospect in each class. Cunningham could opt to play close to home and help take the Longhorns back to the NCAA Tournament. Although Coach Smart isn’t on the safest of grounds after another underwhelming season in Austin.

What complicates matters even more is that they already have a pair of good guards in Matt Coleman and Courtney Ramey, who each averaged over 3.0 apg. Neither will be seniors by the time Cunningham arrives and since they didn’t even test the NBA Draft waters, there’s a strong chance both will be around after next season. While Cunningham would be an upgrade, it’s hard to see him choosing Texas, when there are better teams with better availability at the point guard spot.

Odds – Very low, likely won’t make next cut unless hometown factor is huge
