NBA Draft 2019: Top 25 undrafted players since 2000
Despite four strong seasons at Georgia Tech that included a pair of 14 points per game scoring campaigns, Anthony Morrow wasn’t able to get drafted in 2008.
But he was a hot commodity as a free agent, with the Golden State Warriors able to land them. Although he wasn’t drafted, the Warriors’ scouting department showed early on that they knew where the diamonds in the rough were.
He averaged 10.1 points per game his rookie year, shooting 47 percent from 3-point range. Morrow averaged double figures in his first four NBA years between the Warriors and the then-New Jersey Nets, but fell off for a couple of years after getting traded multiple times. He finally found a home as a key reserve for the Oklahoma City Thunder, scoring 10.7 points per game on 43 percent shooting from deep.
Morrow never reached that same height again, playing for a couple more seasons before retiring after a lack of interest. As great as a shooter he was, the 6-foot-5 guard was a liability defensively and had little to offer in other areas of the game. Even in the era of shooting and spacing in the NBA, Morrow wasn’t good enough to merit minutes on the court.
In the end, it was a solid nine-year career for the former Yellow Jacket, playing a big role in over half of them. The start of Morrow’s career landed him a spot on this list and he could have been higher had there been a few more good years. But Morrow was as big a threat from deep as any player was during the start of this decade.
Career stats (564 games): 9.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists per game
