Kevin McCullar – San Antonio, TX

SF | 6-foot-6 | 180 lbs | No. 185 overall

Another recruit who actually joined the program during this past spring semester, Kevin McCullar is a versatile wing option ranked in the top-200 of the class. A highly-touted 6-foot-6 athlete, McCullar is an extremely intriguing prospect due to his potential impact on both ends of the floor. Offensively, there are few players that will finish around the rim better as he boasts tremendous athleticism and the ability to finish both through and around contact. Although not a tremendous shooter, the upside as a finisher is quite high.

On the defensive end of the floor, his versatility is obvious. With his high-level athleticism and lengthy frame, he projects as someone who can defend multiple positions. This will be welcomed by the Texas Tech coaching staff as his ability to switch onto guards or bigs while still proving to be a stifling defender cannot be understated.

As already alluded to, Texas Tech’s backcourt will be rather full during this coming season. Because of that, it may prove difficult for McCullar to snag a ton of early minutes but he should be a major part of the future for the program. Due to his size and skill set, he could also find a role as a reserve wing throughout this coming campaign. He has already been on campus for a semester and this could impact his immediate role with the team.
