NBA Comparisons

Rudy Gay/Jayson Tatum

When looking at Cam Reddish, he draws early comparisons to forward Rudy Gay. Gay enjoyed two seasons in the college game before making the jump to the NBA back in 2006. Since then, he’s enjoyed a 12-year career with four different NBA teams.

He’s emerged as a solid two-way veteran on the wing and appeared with the San Antonio Spurs this past season. He’s a career 34.8 percent shooter from 3-point range and quite the volume shooter himself, averaging 14.7 shot attempts across his 879 appearances.

Early returns on Reddish’s game show he’s got upside as a player of Gay’s caliber, however, he also has a window to emerge as Jayson Tatum-type of player with his length and defensive potential.

Tatum was one of the primary scoring options during his time at Duke and it’s prepared him for his current role with the Boston Celtics. Tatum shot 43.4 percent from 3-point range during his rookie year and averaged 15.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest this past season with the Celtics.

Reddish will have a shot at lessening the doubt depending on where he lands in this year’s NBA Draft. The upside is certainly there for him to have a solid career in the league.
