19) Chandler Lawson, SF/PF, Oregon

Lawson is a perfect fit for Oregon’s system as a tall, long, athletic wing player. The Ducks turned their focus to defense during last season’s Sweet 16 run and Lawson is a true lockdown defender that will be able to play that role right away.

At 6-8, Lawson has the quickness and wingspan to bother opponents on the perimeter. He keeps them in front of him and makes it incredibly difficult to shoot over him. Lawson has also shown some flashes as a shot-blocker.

At this point, he’s not strong enough to handle opposing big men inside, but he can handle anyone on the perimeter.

The Memphis-native is still raw offensively with a jumper that is still a work in progress. He is able to make an impact in transition and when he’s attacking the basket thanks to his length, athleticism, and ball-handling. Lawson also knows how to be effective without the ball with his cutting and rebounding.

With Oregon losing six of their top eight scorers, there is going to be plenty of opportunity for young players to see significant playing time. Lawson figures to get one of the biggest opportunities because of his defense and offensive upside.
