2. Romeo Langford, 6-6 wing, Indiana

At 6-6 with a sturdy frame and 6-11 wingspan, Indiana‘s Romeo Langford offers excellent size and length on the wing in the NBA, with the potential to defend multiple positions if his lateral agility and defensive technique (specifically his footwork) improve with the help of NBA-level coaching and training personnel.

Langford doesn’t add much to the team as a shooter (27.2 3P%), which does give some pause to his potential fit in Detroit, but his OK free throw percentage (72.2 FT%) and elite touch around the basket suggest that there is some latent upside when it comes to improving as a shooter. Considering that the freshman wing also played with a torn ligament in his shooting hand, it’s plausible that his shooting numbers were significantly hindered as a result, and that we should be a tad more optimistic on his chances to shoot. He does have a bit of a hitch at the top of his release, but the touch is there, so the mechanics are fixable.

His shooting woes make the fit with the Pistons a little dubious, but with several mock drafts routinely having Langford as a Detroit draftee, it makes since to include him here as one of their potential targets. Plus, the team can do better than Bruce Brown at the ‘3,’ and Langford’s strength and size at the position makes him a viable plug-and-play option with the 16th pick.
