Michigan Wolverines

Pros

While there’s a small chance that Wilson might not play much at Kansas, there’s no shot of that happening if he stays with Michigan. The team is losing their top three scorers to the NBA, inclduing Ignas Brazdeikis, Jordan Poole and Charles Matthews. There’s no double-digit scorer on the roster at the moment, giving Wilson the opportunity to showcase his skills as a freshman and raise his stock.

He won’t be completely by himself, with Zavier Simpson and his 6.6 apg coming back. Wilson would fit well with rising senior big man Jon Teske in the frontcourt also. New head coach Howard will also have eyes on him next season and with Wilson as potentially the best player, exposure would be high for him.

Cons

Coach Howard is an intriguing in-house hire at Michigan but it’s not a guarantee that it’ll work out. Coach Beilein and the other two finalists on his list (Bill Self and Roy Williams) have long and impressive resumes that is reassuring for a prospect. He could become a great college head coach but will Wilson want to be the symbolic test dummy in year one?

If winning is also a factor, Michigan ranks at the bottom of the three programs. Even with Wilson on board, the Wolverines still lack the talent to be a viable NCAA Tournament and project to finish in the bottom half of the Big Ten unless other players emerge. This program would have a real chance against most other competitors in recruiting but Kansas and option No. 3 is just too much to overcome.
