Next Steps

While signing a top recruit is always nice for a team there is another problem the Mountaineers are going to have to fix first. Their back-court needs some help. The team has Jordan McCabe who really started to come alive later in the season as the only real difference maker back their. He is going to be a sophomore this year so the team must get him help as they struggle to recruit players that can handle the ball.

This leads me to their most important target left should be Andre Curbelo. Yes there is other players that they are going after in Earl Timberlake and Jalen Bridges, but both of them are forwards. Bridges already appears to be a Mountaineers considering he is from the state of West Virginia, but Curbelo needs some work.

Right now he is a top-60 recruit, but could blossom as his time in the states has been limited. His is form Puerto Rico and the last time the Mountaineers signed a foreign guard Gary Browne it worked out very well for them. He is undersized much like McCabe, but both of them can handle the ball which is a step up from last season turning the ball over more times than a team that Bob Huggins has ever coached.

Signing Cottrell is a step in the right direction, but they still have a lot of work to do before they are going to be considered a top team again.
