2. F/C Jontay Porter – Missouri

Missed all of last season; 2017-18 stats: 9.9 ppg 6.8 rpg 2.2 apg

The Porter brothers were cursed at Missouri, with Michael missing all of 2017-18 with a leg injury and Jontay Porter missing all of this past year after a knee injury. So effectively we only have the numbers from his freshman campaign. He primarily came off the bench and at times showed his youth after reclassifying to play with his brother.

The 6’11 big man might not be as talented as last year’s No. 13 overall draft pick brother but the younger Porter is a quality player in his own right. He can shoot the ball well from three-point range, rebound and even pass it at a proficient level. The former Tiger was playing very well towards the end of his freshman season and could’ve been a top-20 pick in this draft had he played healthy.

There’s a very good chance that he won’t even make it to 40, as some scouts still have a 1st round grade for Porter. For teams with multiple picks and don’t have a clear need, he would be a nice project to slowly bring along and develop into an NBA big man.

Sacramento finally ended their painful streak of big men draft busts with Bagley playing well in his first year. But they still could use some frontcourt depth, especially if they decide to part ways with former top-10 pick Willie Cauley-Stein.

Even injured, Porter has more offensive potential than the former Kentucky center ever did and would have two great guards to work with. Sacramento is still a ways to go but is in a position where they could take a flyer out on someone with high potential. Question is whether or not he’ll even be around for the Kings to consider.
