Dom Welch – Saint Bonaventure

Welch will hardly be entering this season as an unknown quantity, as he, Kyle Lofton, and Osun Osunniyi became widely accepted as the best Freshman class in the A10 after a great conference tournament run, but of the three of them, he should have the most room to grow moving forward.

While Lofton and Osunniyi were able to stand out as the clear frontrunners at their positions, Welch had to share the spotlight on the wings with Courtney Stockard and Jaylen Poyser, who were second and third on the team, respectively, in scoring. With both of them moving on, Welch should have all the more opportunity to become a star for the Bonnies and improve on his already rock solid numbers (7.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 36.1% from three).

There’s no reason to believe that he won’t be able to carry the heavy load that will be expected of him in the post-Stockard era, and if he can, the Bonnies will be in a good position to secure a tournament double-bye for the third straight season and beyond.
