Terence Davis, SG, Ole Miss

After gaining a lot of traction in the pre-draft process and shooting his way up draft boards, Terence Davis left the night without a team to call his own. The Ole Miss graduate received a late invite to the NBA Combine after standing out at the G-League Elite Camp, and many people thought he would sneak into the back-end of the first round. Instead, he didn’t even sneak into the back-end of the second.

Davis averaged 14.6 points per game over his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons with the Rebels, but his calling card was never scoring – rather, his game is predicated on his athleticism and defensive ability. He stands at 6’4, but with a 6’9.75 wingspan, good strength, and outstanding lateral quickness, Davis can guard anybody from point guard to small forward. He also has terrific off-ball instincts, as is demonstrated by his 3.0% steal rate and 2.2% block rate.

While defense is where he shines, his offense is definitely worth talking about. Davis can knock down shots from all three levels and finish well above the rim. He’s capable of operating as a tertiary initiator, as he’s a capable ball handler and averaged 3.5 assists per game for Ole Miss this past season. There are questions about Davis’ shooting, as he was only a career 32.3% shooter from deep prior to making 37.1% of his three-point attempts as a senior. But if his shooting proves to be legitimate, he can be a solid rotation 3&D player for a good NBA team.

Davis was ranked 44th on Lukas Harkins’ final Big Board.
