16. Seton Hall Pirates

Seton Hall was another team that definitely exceeded expectations during this past season. Even though they had lost a talented crop of seniors from the year before, the Pirates finished third in the Big East behind the heroics of superstar guard Myles Powell. Throughout the season, Powell made big shot after big shot en route to averaging 23.1 points per game (.447/.363/.840). He is clearly one of the top scorers in the country and is a preseason favorite to win Big East Player of the Year.

Powell is not the only key returner, though. Alongside him will also be juniors Myles Cale and Sandro Mamukelashvili. These two were vital pieces of the rotation a year ago and seem to be double-digit per game scorers heading into this season. Additionally, point guard Quincy McKnight will be back to dictate the offense, Jared Rhoden will reside on the wing, and Taurean Thompson can hold down the middle.

Seton Hall’s massive amount of returning talent is what warrants this top-25 ranking. They were solid, albeit not spectacular, a season ago. With continued roster development and another great season from Powell, they can compete at the top of the Big East. Head coach Kevin Willard has a great roster – let’s see what he can do.
