NCAA Basketball: Updated way-too-early 2019-20 top-25
6. Villanova Wildcats
Villanova posted a bit of a down season in 2018-19 but the expectation should be that they bounce back in a big way during this coming campaign. Losing Eric Paschall and Phil Booth to graduation with obviously hurt but they have an insanely talented recruiting class coming in and plenty of internal rising stars on the roster as well. Oh, and someone by the name of Jay Wright is the head coach of the team. I’ve heard that he’s been pretty successful with Nova over the past couple of years.
Leading the way during this coming season will likely be rising juniors Collin Gillespie, Jermaine Samuels, and Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree. Gillespie, most notably, is going to be seen as a leader f the team as a clutch-shooting guard. In addition, rising sophomore Saddiq Bey was a surprising standout player a year ago and should be in for another strong campaign. We might even see stronger seasons from Cole Swider and/or Brandon Slater.
In addition to these returners, there are many who are excited about Villanova’s incoming recruiting class. This group, which is ranked at No. 5 in the country, features four top-100 prospects. All of them have the potential to be immediate-impact contributors but the top two players are Bryan Antoine and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, both of whom are ranked in the top-20 and have NBA potential.
