18. LSU Tigers

LSU has had a tumultuous last few months, to put it lightly. But, with head coach Will Wade reinstated as the leader and only two NBA Draft prospects leaving early (Waters and Reid), they are actually returning a fair amount of talent from the team that landed a No. 3 seed this past season. This includes the talented perimeter of Skylar Mays, Marlon Taylor, and Ja’vonte Smart. These players will all play key roles once again during this coming season but it is also important to mention that Coach Wade has another elite recruit joining the program in Trendon Watford (No. 17).

With this core leading the way, the Tigers should once again be near the top of an ultra-competitive SEC. They might not be the top team in the league but they will surely compete at a high level and have the potential to snag a high seed in the NCAA Tournament. They will definitely miss Tremont Waters as their playmaking point guard but Smart should be able to slide into that role relatively well as a sophomore. It is also important to mention that Emmitt Williams has the potential to be one of the best “glue guys” in the country this year as a high-energy power forward.

LSU’s potential for 2019-20, on the whole, has been widely overlooked over the past couple of months as a result of their off-the-court turmoil, but they could be one of the top teams in the country. Although quite young, they have a senior leader in Mays and plenty of rising talent. Coach Wade is also one of the better coaches in the country.
