Hunter Cattoor – Point Guard

Hunter Cattoor was originally committed to the Wofford Terriers 2019 class but the hiring of Mike Young in Blacksburg changed things a bit for his recruitment. He was able to move his focus from the Terriers to the Hokies rather quickly with Young at the helm in Blacksburg.

His addition gives them a solid 6-foot-2 point guard that, in the worst-case scenario, can run the offense at the backup point guard position. He averaged 18.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.8 assists per game during his senior year at Bishop Moore (FL) this past season. His squad went 20-5 this past season and he was a first-team All-Area selection by the Orlando Sentinel.

He’s known to do a little bit of everything on the floor and is quite the marksmen from behind the arc. Cattoor chose the Hokies over a few low-major programs like Wofford, Belmont and Bucknell but he’ll have a year or two to get acclimated to play in the ACC.

Wabissa Bede will be back for the 2019-20 season so that will at least give the Hokies some depth and experience in the backcourt. One area Young won’t have to worry about is the guards, that’s for sure.
