Jalen Cone – Point Guard

Point guard Jalen Cone is one of the most prized recruits of the 2019 class. He was originally a member of the 2020 class but after mulling offers, he decided to re-class into the 2019 class. After going through the process, he ultimately chose the Hokies over the Volunteers, Aggies, Golden Eagles and Demon Deacons.

Cone has big play ability in his game at 5-foot-10. He averaged 25.7 points and 6.6 assists per game this past season for his Walkertown High School (NC) before ultimately deciding to get a head start at the next level.

He’s a lightning quick scoring guard that can score on all three levels and is quite the athletic guard for his size. Getting in the strength and conditioning program early should pay dividends for his development. He’s one player Mike Young will rely heavily upon to build his program around.

They’ll have Wabissa Bede back which helps on defense, but offensively, Cone will be looked upon to carry much of the scoring load with his abilities. He’s a player that made quite the impact in his three seasons at Walkertown and has a big opportunity ahead of him in Blacksburg.
