2. DJ Carton (Ohio State – PG)

An impressive point guard from Bettendorf, IA, Carton is a 6’1 point guard who’s going to bring a lot of excitement to Columbus, being the top-rated recruit from a class full of studs. There was a lot of Big Ten Basketball interest for Carton, who visited Michigan and Indiana before making his way to Ohio State, committing back in November.

The lefty guard is talented and athletic and excels at running the point. Carton has the abilities to shoot consistently from long-range with a solid stroke. His strong basketball IQ has helped him develop at the point and his intelligence might not be matched in this class of recruits. He can make big plays for himself and for teammates and has the potential to develop on the defensive end as well. He has great length and would benefit from some additional strength, though his playmaking ability already makes him a stellar point guard.

Carton could very easily become Ohio State’s starting point guard from the beginning, giving them the point guard they really needed last year. He’ll split time with junior CJ Walker, but should play a role on a talented Buckeyes team. Like previously mentioned, there’s not many players smarter than Carton running the point. If he develops on defense and continues to shoot the cover off the ball, this is a future NBA point guard.
