12. Robbie Beran (Northwestern – PF)

Beran is a 6’9 forward from Richmond, Virginia who projects as a very interesting player for the Wildcats. He paid visits to Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech but decided on Northwestern back in October. He also received a slew of offers from schools like Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee.

He’s the best prospect for Chris Collins and the Wildcats and should fit in nicely on their roster next season. His combination of size and athletic ability help bring a lot of versatility to the floor. He’s not the kind of power forward who will nail shots from long-range, but he does have decent range. Regardless, he’s definitely a shooter type who will catch-and-shoot with ease. Like many young prospects, adding strength will be key, though there’s plenty to like about Beran. He’s a solid rebounder and decent in the paint; if he can work on his shooting and defense than he’ll be a great player in a few years.

The bottom line is that Beran is the best new recruit for the Wildcats and will play a role in the team’s rotation from the beginning. Unfortunately, Northwestern has really struggled these last few seasons. Expect Beran to put up decent points and rebounding numbers as he continues to build his strength. However, if the Wildcats can’t turn things around, he might be playing for a new coach very soon.
