Shereef Mitchell – Creighton Bluejays

PG | 6-foot-0 | 155 lbs | No. 208 overall

A local product from Omaha, Shereef Mitchell looks like a future star guard for the Creighton Bluejays. Over the past several years, head coach Greg McDermott has had a fair amount of success with regards to developing his backcourt options and Mitchell sounds like a player that is ready to improve throughout his career with the program. He is a hard worker and there is seemingly nothing that will hold him back from reaching his fullest potential.

Omaha.com put it this way:

"“When the CU coaching staff told him to show improvement from 3-point range during his final year at Omaha Burke, Mitchell went out and shot 40%. When the coaches suggested his body might benefit from a year at prep school, Mitchell went to Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas and gained 20 pounds.”"

With this kind of work ethic and determination, it would be a surprise if Mitchell does not become at least a solid option for the Bluejays during his career. At this point in time, it is hard to project how he will impact the team during this coming season because the odds are likely that he has already added a trick or two to his bag. He is one of the top recruits from the state of Nebraska and should pose a major threat down the road for the program.

Even though Mitchell comes in ranked outside of the top-200, Creighton’s track record with developing guards in their fast-paced, 3-point-heavy offense is worth noting. He could be one of the most impactful players from this class for the Big East when it is all said and done. He might not see major minutes, or any PT, during his first season on campus, though, due to the number of returning guards on the roster.
