Murray State Basketball: Breaking down Racer’ 2019 recruiting class
Jason Holliday – Baton Rouge, LA
CG | 6 – Foot- 5 | 200lb | Unranked
Jason Holliday may be the steal of this recruiting class! He is a really strong combo guard that can handle the ball and play away from the ball. His movement on the court without the ball allows him to get offensive rebounds, pop open for three-point shots, and create for teammates. He is going to be a fan favorite in Murray.
He averaged 16.8 points a game 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, so he is more than likely going to play the two at Murray State and possibly the three. He looks small on the court because of his build, but at 6’5″ he is a bigger guard. Add his unique athleticism and speed and Holliday is an offensive playmaker. He shot 37.4% from three last season in JUCO while averaging seven free throw attempts a game at a 73.7% clip.
Jason Holliday is going to be vying for a starting spot day one on campus. There are some parts of his game that will need work, but it should work out. Murray State has had recent success with JUCO products. Terrell Miller and Jonathan Stark provided experience for the 2018 NCAA Tournament team that preceded Ja Morant’s breakout season. Now, Shaq Buchanan, the latest JUCO product to graduate from Murray State, has signed a Summer League deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. Holliday should have the same trajectory in a couple of years.
