NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing Isaiah Jackson’s final 6 teams
Arizona Wildcats
The Wildcats are coming off of a top-3 recruiting class for 2019, led by four players ranked in the top-60 overall. One of them is Zeke Nnaji, a 6’11 power forward who is a great offensive prospect. He end leave after one season but even if Nnaji does return for his sophomore season, he would fit well with the more defensive-minded Jackson in the frontcourt. Rising senior Chase Jeter will graduate after this season so the center position will be open for 2020-21.
When it comes to the potential fit, head coach Sean Miller has a long history with successful frontcourt players. Past guys such as Lauri Markkanen and Aaron Gordon are positive examples but they came to Arizona with an impressive offensive skillset. But Ira Lee and Emmanuel Akot didn’t and struggled since coming to Tucson. Will Jackson be able to develop an offensive game if he picks the Wildcats.
Another thing to consider is that while the team doesn’t have any 2020 commits yet, they will have Nevada transfer Jordan Brown coming off a redshirt for the following season. He was buried on the depth chart as a freshman with the Wolf Pack before leaving this offseason. But remember that he is a former five-star recruit and a High School McDonald’s All-American. Brown could become that kind of player again with Arizona, potentially pushing Jackson down the depth chart.
