NCAA Basketball: 25 greatest buzzer beaters of all time
24. Chandler Parsons half-court shot to beat NC State (2010)
Farnold Degand stood at the free throw line and calmly knocked down the first of two free throws to give NC State a two-point lead in an early January non-conference bout.
The game seemed to be locked up with 2.6 seconds left and one Degand free throw to come, but Florida junior forward Chandler Parsons had other plans.
Degand looked to mouth the words “I got it” before the second free throw, looked calm and then let the shot go. It fell way short, landed in Parsons hands who grabbed the board, took a couple dribbles to his left and launched a shot from the opposite 3-point line over the desperate hand of Degand. It went in.
Stunned doesn’t even begin to describe the NC State crowd, as they watched a sure win slip through their team’s hands.
There’s nothing more deflating than losing on your home floor, but it’s a whole different level when it’s a three-quarters court buzzer-beater.
