Jalen Johnson – Phenom University

SF | 6-foot-8 | 215 lbs | No. 4 overall

Jalen Johnson recently committed to play for Duke and he showed why he is ranked as a top-5 player in the class at Peach Jam. An elite all-around talent at 6-foot-8, Johnson projects as a matchup nightmare in college. He is a tremendous playmaker with outstanding court vision, three-level scorer, and a potential defensive dynamo with the right development. Quite simply, he checks all of the boxes but needs to add a bit more consistency with his jumper before taking the next step. Nonetheless, he is already uniquely talented and warrants a top-10 ranking.

In five statistically recorded games at Peach Jam, the young forward averaged 17.6 points (.462/.222/.615), 8.8 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He clearly impacts the game in a number of ways on the offensive end. If he is able to add some consistency with his shooting, both at the free-throw line and beyond the arc, he could be hearing his name called very early at the 2021 NBA Draft. I know that is thinking very hard ahead, but Johnson flashes potential of being an elite two-way star.

Duke is in absolutely tremendous shape with regards to their 2020 recruiting class. The Blue Devils always seem to put together one of the top classes in the land and Coach K has already landed two top-20 players. You can be sure that Johnson (and Jeremy Roach) are going to be outstanding building blocks for the 2020-21 campaign in Durham.
