Carlos Johnson – The Family Detroit

SF | 6-foot-6 | 210 lbs | No. 121 overall

Carlos “Scooby” Johnson missed the majority of the EYBL season due to injuries but came back in a big way at Peach Jam. An all-around talent with few areas of deficiency in his game, Johnson made a major impact in many different ways for The Family Detroit. Although he may not have an “elite” skill at this point in time, he does just about everything relatively well on the court. With his 6-foot-6, 210-pound frame, he has plenty of size as a combo forward and can do offensive damage inside and out, with or without the ball.

Over the course of the contests in North Augusta, Johnson showed out with averages of 15.8 points, (.525/.375/.733), 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He was simply tremendous on both ends of the floor and in a variety of facets. He can be a switchable defender while also showcasing the ability to be a secondary playmaker, cutting finisher, or catch-and-shoot perimeter threat on the offensive end. He can improve in each of those areas but his all-around skill level is uniquely high at this point in time.

Johnson, who is ranked just outside of the nation’s top-100, is receiving plenty of high-major interest. For the time being, and this is always subject to change, it seems as though the programs most closely associated include Butler, Michigan, Michigan State, and Missouri, among others. He would be a great addition for each school due to his versatility to succeed in different roles.
