Michigan Wolverines

Michigan is ushering in a new era of basketball following the departure of head coach John Beilein. Now with former star Juwan Howard leading the way, there are bound to be some changes. Although following in the footsteps of Coach Beilein will be difficult given his level of success over the past few years, many are expecting that Coach Howard will be able to use his NBA pedigree to land high-profile recruits. It is also important to mention that Coach Howard, in addition to playing 19 years in the NBA, also served as an assistant coach for a few years.

Michigan’s 2020 recruiting class could easily set the tone for the program under Coach Howard. With talented point guard prospect Zeb Jackson (No. 58 overall) already in tow, the Wolverines are off to a strong start. Jackson originally joined the future plans under Coach Beilein but he is still committed to the program. Looking ahead, it certainly makes sense for the program to target a big man such as Kessler in the program. Considering Coach Howard’s professional pedigree and Kessler’s next-level potential, this could be a nice fit.

With that said, though, it does not seem as though Michigan is one of the favorites at this point in time. Due to the fact that Coach Howard is a relatively new hire, the Wolverines have the potential to rise up the list for Kessler with more extensive communication over the next few months. It might take a strong push to land the commitment, though.
