2020 Recruiting Outlook

This is a monster recruiting class for the future of Indiana basketball. With four open scholarships and Coach Miller’s reputation on the recruiting trail over the past few years, it is possible that the Hoosiers land a top-20 class. Considering IU’s current set of targets, it seems like the priorities will center around landing two wings, a lead guard, and a forward. These could easily change based on which prospects are favoring the Hoosiers, though.

At the point guard spot, it is hard to determine exactly where the Hoosiers stand. The coaching staff is targeting some of the top-tier prospects at the position and they will have a hard time beating out elite programs for their commitments. On the wings, it seems relatively likely that IU could land both Anthony Leal and Trey Galloway. That would certainly fill that holes on the wing for the next few years. Then, in the frontcourt, the Hoosiers seem to be in a solid position with regards to Zach Loveday and Matt Cross.

Of course, recruiting is only one part of building a consistently successful product. If the Hoosiers are able to secure an elite-level recruiting class, the coaching staff will then have to fine-tune the roster with quality scheming and player development. This has been a bit of an issue for IU in recent years, but excitement always surrounds a program fresh off a great recruiting season.

Will Coach Miller be able to carry the Hoosiers back near the top of the Big Ten in the near future? His 2020 recruiting class has the potential to go a long way in the program’s development if he is able to land some of his top targets. Indiana basketball is involved in some extremely tight recruiting battles and the next few months could greatly change the future of the program.

Final Class Prediction: Hassan Diarra, Anthony Leal, Trey Galloway, Zach Loveday.
