7. Aaron Craft – Ohio State

While reading this every fan of Big Ten basketball just let out a collective groan. Craft was the one player who all fans of basketball in that conference will say was able to get away with anything. The best part is every Ohio State buckeye fan loves him, and every fan of every other team in that league wishes he never would have played in the conference.

The guard was never a flashy player, he only averaged double-digit points in a season one time. The reason he is so revered by Ohio State, was his unselfish play and the ability to get others involved. Craft earned starters minutes from the day he stepped foot on campus as the point guard position. He was one of the best on ball defenders in Ohio State history, having the record for the most steals in a career. The teams that Craft led on offense won a ton of games and were some of the more decorated Ohio State teams in the school’s history.

Why is a player like Craft on this list?  The guard never made a mistake, he was one of the more clutch players in the NCAA during his time. It should also be noted that many fans think Craft got every call. Watching the film, it appeared Craft may have been officiated differently than his peers. He was able to play much closer than the average player on defense and make far more contact than anyone else. Fouls were rarely called on the former Buckeye.

Craft always made the right play and just when it appeared that Ohio State was on the brink of a loss, the guard would rise from the ashes and make or set up a clutch basket. The guard was disliked for being too good at his sport of choice.
