Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State has not been the most successful college basketball program over the past several years but it seems as though recruiting is on the uptick under head coach Mike Boyton. After securing a top-25 class in the nation for 2019, there is positive momentum on the recruiting trail and many are expecting that this will carry into the 2020 class. This is largely due to the fact that the program recently hired the brother of highly-touted recruit Cade Cunningham (No. 2) as an assistant coach. Prior to this move, many had already rumored that the Cowboys were one of the favorites for Cunningham but they have an even better pitch now.

As such a highly-rated player, Cunningham would be an unbelievable snag for the program and could be a building block for the future. If he elects to join the Cowboys early in the recruiting season, then the coaching staff will have plenty of time to build a roster around the superstar wing. For the time being, the majority of the excitement about Oklahoma State’s 2020 recruiting progress centers around Cunningham. Because of this, the Cowboys could be staring down a “boom or bust” class. With Cunningham in tow, OK-State could put together a top-10 class in the nation. Without him, it would be interesting to see where they turn.

In addition to Cunningham, the Cowboys have been heavily involved with several other highly-rated prospects. This includes the likes of Bryce Thompson (No. 20) and Jaylin Williams (No. 70). Coach Boynton has already proven that he can be successful on the recruiting trail and this has the makings of an elite recruiting class. Oh, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that the Cowboys already have secured a commitment from Davonte Davis (No. 98), a highly talented point guard who looks set to be a playmaking leader for the program.
