Providence Friars

Providence is not often regarded as one of the top recruiting programs in the nation but head coach Ed Cooley has an outstanding reputation. Even though the Friars have not been extremely successful in the postseason as of late, they are almost always in contention for an NCAA Tournament bid. Providence has reached the Big Dance in five of the last six seasons as the program clearly took a leap with the “New Big East.”

With regards to this recruitment, Coach Cooley’s relationship with Dickinson seems to be the driving force of Providence’s inclusion in this list. According to Rivals’ Corey Evans, Dickinson had this to say about the Friars:

"“Coach (Ed) Cooley is one of the best coaches that I have ever met at any level of basketball. I really like the way that he talks about using me in his offense.”"

That is a glowing review of the Providence coach and it will be interesting to see how far that relationship goes with regards to potentially landing this commitment. It is also important to mention that the Friars hosted Dickinson for a visit back in April. Even though Providence might not be regarded as one of the favorites in this recruitment, Dickinson’s relationship with the coaching staff and his visit might put them in a better position than most are thinking.

Nate Watson, who will be a senior in 2020-21, will likely still be the starting big man by the time Dickinson would arrive on campus but they could make up a dangerous platoon. That is, of course, if Dickinson was to commit to Providence.
