1. The University of Kentucky

Coming in at number one on Cade Cunningham’s final five teams is the Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats are the best option for Cunningham for several reasons, one of which is the fact that they already have a commitment from Brandon Boston, the seventh ranked player in the Class of 2020.

Pairing Boston and Cunningham would make for likely the most lethal duo in college basketball for the 2020-21 season. Boston is a very talented small forward, who will be playing alongside the sons of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal at Sierra Canyon this season.

That being said, Boston will get exposure and the opportunity to learn from three of the best players in NBA History while also playing alongside some of the highest ranked recruits in high school basketball.

Pairing Cunningham, a point guard who is the second ranked player overall in the Class of 2020 and Boston, the third ranked small forward in the Class of 2020 would create an unstoppable duo at one of the premiere programs in college basketball.

While Kentucky’s last National Championship was in 2012, which for Kentucky is a long time, they have still had a great amount of success recently. The Wildcats have made it to two Final Fours, four Elite Eight’s, five Sweet Sixteens and all six NCAA Tournaments since 2014.

In that same time frame the Wildcats have had 13 players selected in the NBA Draft Lottery, a number that is simply unbelievable. It is because of this that Kentucky, alongside Duke, have become the best schools to go to if your end goal is to be drafted in the lottery.

So not only will Cunningham have the opportunity to create a dynamic duo with Brandon Boston, but he will also have the opportunity to get the exposure needed to be a top pick in the NBA Draft.

All this while playing in a conference that has seen five of its teams make it to the Final Four since 2014. But wait there’s more, Cunningham would also have the chance to learn from one of the best coaches in college basketball, John Calipari.

Calipari has proven himself to be elite when it comes to coaches in college basketball and if none of those other reasons I mentioned are good enough to convince a player to go to Kentucky, learning from Calipari should be good enough.

Of the five teams Cunningham has narrowed his decision to, the Kentucky Wildcats are clearly the best option for the top ranked point guard.
