NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing Caleb Love’s final six
North Carolina Tar Heels
Due to the overwhelming thought that Cole Anthony will be a “one-and-done”, North Carolina will definitely be in the market for a point guard in the 2020 class. It is also important to mention that the program will also be graduating guards Christian Keeling and Brandon Robinson. And while Anthony Harris and/or Leaky Black will still be key backcourt pieces in 2020-21, it should come as no surprise that Coach Williams is seeking a commitment from a talented floor general like Caleb Love.
In an interview with Rivals’ Corey Evans regarding his final six, Love had this to say about UNC’s pitch:
"“Roy Williams and his assistant coaches have just told me that they want for me to come in for Cole Anthony since he will be a one-and-done and they want for me to come in and be that lead point guard for them and someone that can make plays for others and also myself. They said that it is also a place that can help me get to the league.”"
North Carolina has a great reputation on the college basketball scene for many reasons. Most notably, they win. Every single year. The Tar Heels almost never suffer through a poor season as they can always be counted to compete for a national title. Coach Williams is clearly one of the best in the business and UNC has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down in recent years. It will be intriguing to see how Cole Anthony performs during this coming season, but those could be some big shoes to fill in Chapel Hill.
Love, though, simply gets it done every single time that he takes the court. He might not be a top-10 player in the class, but he has been a steady riser in recruiting rankings and is rock-solid as a defender and scorer. His potential as a college star at either backcourt slot is almost a sure thing.
That concludes this look at Caleb Love’s final six schools. He is still planning several of his visits, so it is difficult to say exactly who the favorites are and there are not any crystal ball predictions at this point in time. All six of these programs has a legit shot to potentially land the talented guard. If I had to hazard a guess without any inside information, I would say that Indiana, Louisville, and North Carolina might be his best fits on paper.
