T-11. LSU Tigers (SEC)

Average recruiting ranking: 27.90

This is yet another team that has posted some outstanding recruiting seasons without much success on the court. During the 2010’s, LSU only reached the NCAA Tournament twice and is yet to find a great deal of consistency. Thankfully, it seems as though head coach Will Wade is ready to help alleviate some of the program’s issues, but the last decade was mostly filled with disappointment from missing the Big Dance. The football team, though, was quite good, so there’s that.

LSU has clearly been far from the most successful college basketball program in the country but their recruiting wins have been sensation. Both major head coaches of the decade, Johnny Jones and Will Wade, landed their fair shares of top-rated players in hopes of taking the program to new heights. The most highly-rated group came from the 2018 class and ranked at No. 4 in the nation thanks to five-stars Naz Reid and Emmitt Williams. The program was also able to snag five-stars Ben Simmons, Antonio Blakeney, and Trendon Watford in the 2010’s.

Coach Wade is a budding star on the sidelines for LSU. As long as he remains the coach, the Tigers will likely continue their rise in the rankings. Of course, their recruiting has been rock-solid for a long time now but his impact will perhaps be felt even more on the sidelines during the games. LSU is simply a far better team with him as the tactician and they could be rising up the SEC.
