T-11. Michigan State Spartans (Big Ten)

Average recruiting ranking: 27.90

Michigan State has reached the NCAA Tournament in 22 consecutive seasons. Head coach Tom Izzy is clearly one of the best in the business and this last decade was no exception. The Spartans were an exceptionally good team in just about every single year as they consistently threatened as a national title contender. While there were never able to cut down the final nets as champions in the past 10 years, they did make the Final Four in 2010, 2015, and 2019. Hard to argue with that.

Michigan State’s successes, much like Villanova, has been contributed mostly to elite coaching by Tom Izzo. Yet, it is also important to mention that he is not just bringing in the nation’s average recruiting class. The Spartans have experienced their fair share of recruiting wins over the years, with perhaps the most coming in 2016. That class finished at No. 3 in the nation and included commitments from Miles Bridges, Joshua Langford, Cassius Winston, and Nick Ward. That is…a sensational class both regards to overall ranking and success on the court. Jaren Jackson, Branden Dawson, Gary Harris, and Adreian Payne are some other recruiting names to know from this era.

As long as Coach Izzo is running the show for Michigan State, they are going to be a dynamite program. He has been at the helm long enough for fans to know that he is one of the best coaches in the country and can clearly recruit with the best of them. MSU fans are certainly hoping for another title in the near future but the Spartans are among the nation’s elite already and it will continue to be that way as long as he is running the show.
