10. Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten)

Average recruiting ranking: 26.50

Considering the Buckeyes have not made it out of the opening weekend in the past several years, their massive amount of success during the 2010’s has been forgotten by many. But yet, Ohio State was one of the nation’s most successful programs of the decade with eight NCAA Tournament appearances and one trip to the Final Four. Thad Matta was a tremendous leader for the program and it seems as though Chris Holtmann is following in his footsteps quite well with back-to-back Big Dance trips in his first two years at the helm.

Ohio State’s golden age for recruiting occurred in the late-2000’s, but they have still had remarkable success over the last 10 years. The Buckeyes have landed some elite-level players under both of their head coaches, Thad Matta and Chris Holtmann, and it seems as though that will continue into the future. During this decade, the program’s top recruiting class came in 2010 and was ranked at No. 4 in the nation. This class featured a pair of five-star prospects with Jared Sullener and Deshaun Thomas. Some of the other recruits worthy of a mention are D’Angelo Russell, Keita Bates-Diop, and Jaquan Lyle.

Coach Holtmann is one of the best in the business and it seems very likely that he will continue to find recruiting success while at Ohio State. He is tremendous at building relationships and also has the in-game coaching skill to be successful on the court. The Buckeyes are trending back towards being a perennial contender in the Big Ten and he is a major reason why. Recruiting is already great for the program and it will continue to be that way. I am a huge fan of the 2019 class currently coming in.
