6. North Carolina Tar Heels (ACC)

Average recruiting ranking: 17.40

North Carolina’s successes over the past decade are well-documented. Behind the leadership of head coach Roy Williams, the Tar Heels have been absolutely exceptional. The program has reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the past nine seasons and they have a national championship banner (2017) to show for their efforts. The team is always one of the best in the entire country and that much has been evident throughout the entire tenure of Coach Williams at the school (16 years).

Their inclusion should have been pretty obvious. The Tar Heels are always near the top of the national rankings and that would not be possible without high-level recruiting. Head coach Roy Williams seemingly always lands some of his top targets and his recruiting wins span across the entire decade. UNC has been remarkably consistent with landing top-tier classes. By team rankings, his best class of the era came as a result of commitments from Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson (among others) in 2012 when the class ranked at No. 5 nationally. Some of the individual commits to take note of include Harrison Barnes, Cole Anthony, Nassir Little, Justin Jackson, and Coby White, among others.

North Carolina will continue to be one of the top recruiting programs in the future as well. Coach Williams has shown no signs of slowing down on the trail in recent years and the program is one of the nation’s bluebloods. That holds plenty of merit and it is reasonable to expect that the Tar Heels will consistently snag top-25 classes year in and year out for the foreseeable future. It also helps that the program is among the nation’s best on the court as well, so recruits can always see a path to the title.
