NCAA Basketball: Top 25 recruiting programs of the 2010’s
1. Kentucky Wildcats (SEC)
Average recruiting ranking: 1.50
Kentucky reached the NCAA Tournament in nine seasons during this past decade and cut down the final nets as champion once (2012). Considering this, the Wildcats were clearly among the nation’s best programs of the era and that was largely due to high-quality recruiting. John Calipari was the head coach throughout the decade and his elite recruiting has led to the program become a 365-day threat to every other program in the nation.
Above all others, Kentucky was easily the most consistently dominant recruiting program in the nation over the 2010’s. Thanks to the leadership of head coach John Calipari, the Wildcats have absolutely rolled en route to landing elite class after elite class. While Duke has certainly charged in recent years, there was no match for UK over the past 10 recruiting seasons combined. The Wildcats have averaged an absurd team recruiting ranking of 1.50 and that is due to landing a top-2 recruiting class in every single season that this article accounts for. That is simply ridiculous. Some of their most notable recruits include Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns, De’Aaron Fox, and a host of over college and NBA stars.
Looking ahead to the future, Kentucky is going to be an excellent recruiting program as long as Coach Cal is in charge. He is simply one of the best in the business when it comes to landing top-tier players and that will continue for the next several years. Kentucky already holds commitments from two top-40 prospects in the 2020 class as their successes look poised to continue into the next decade. The fans are surely hoping for more championships as well.
That concludes this look at the top 25 recruiting programs of the 2010’s. I hope that you enjoyed this breakdown and it will be interesting to see if the teams are the same over the next 10 years. That is doubtful, so following which programs will have breakout recruiting stretches will be fun.
