Opportunities For Quality Wins

Let’s be honest here, the American Conference is about as deep as it has ever been and with teams like Memphis, Houston and Cincinnati at the top, winning the AAC Tournament is going to be the hard way in. But let’s remember, UConn has made that improbable conference tournament runs before and I’m certainly not ruling out that they’ll make another one next year. But in the event they don’t, they’re going to need to build a resume strong enough to gain an at large bid. Let’s take a look at some of the opportunities UConn will have to add those quality wins to their resume.

Non-conference Games Against Quality Opponents

Nov 17th- Florida

Nov 21st-24th Charleston Classic (Confirmed Opponent: Buffalo)

Dec 10th- Indiana

Jan 18th- Villanova

Home Only- Wichita

So if we take a look at last year’s tournament field and more specifically the American Conference teams, Temple managed to secure a spot in the field going 23-9. If we’re being honest their resume didn’t exactly pop out, a quarterfinal exit in the AAC tournament and only two wins against ranked opponents. They bowed out in the first round in Dayton to Belmont but that’s besides the point, they made it in.

Winning 25 games doesn’t seem out of reach for UConn, if they can manage to split their home and homes that were listed above, pick up some wins in the Charleston Classic, and make a semi finals or better appearance in the AAC tournament, there’s no reason UConn can’t make a return to the tournament.
