Anthony Harris — Fairfax, VA

CG | 6-foot-3 | 180 lbs | No. 70 overall

One of the surprising last names to resurface as a recruiting target after de-committing from Virginia Tech following the announcement that former head coach Buzz Williams was leaving to coach the Texas A&M Aggies instead, 6-foot-3 combo-guard and four-star recruit Anthony Harris decided that he too would (understandably) jump ship and look for a different college town to call home.

That town would end up being Chapel Hill, with the guard committing to UNC only hours after five-star point guard Cole Anthony had announced similar intentions to join Roy Williams on Tobacco Road on April 23 and thus bolstering the 2019-2020 backcourt.

Before tearing his left ACL last December, Harris was a primary option for the fast-paced, guard-friendly offense at Paul VI Catholic and one of the key contributors in Team Takeover’s 23-1 run through the 17U Nike EYBL circuit that summer, which resulted in a Peach Jam championship (along with fellow Takeover teammate and UNC commit, Armando Bacot).

Known as a competitive two-way guard with a propensity to pressure his opponents on both ends of the floor with irritating defense and a combination of confident slashing and comfortable perimeter shooting (he shot 43.8 percent from three and 82.1 percent from the foul line in EYBL play), the 19-year-old stands out as a perfect fit at UNC.
