All-Freshman Team

Caleb Mills (Houston)

Precious Achiuwa (Memphis)

Akok Akok (UConn)

DJ Jeffries (Memphis)

James Wiseman (Memphis)

To absolutely no one’s surprise, there are quite a few Memphis Tigers that feature in the All-Freshman team predictions. With the number one recruiting class in the nation that includes the number one player in the country, Memphis is loading up and looking to make a deep run in March. In order for this to happen, they’re going to need their star-studded freshman class to carry a heavy load for them. The number one freshman in the country James Wiseman is, of course, included on this list along with Achuiwa and DJ Jeffries. Another strong consideration to make this team is their teammate Boogie Ellis but was left off. Long story short, Memphis have a lot of good freshmen and I can only pick so many.

Also featuring on the All-Freshman Team is Houston point guard Caleb Mills, Mills joined the Cougars program last season but would redshirt. Mills was still able to practice with Houston last year and learn from Armoni Brooks and Corey Davis, Mills had a good summer tour with Houston and looks primed to play a role for Kelvin Sampson’s team. Akok Akok is the last member, the No. 22 player in the 2019 class and Connecticut native decided to stay home to join Dan Hurley’s Huskies. Akok joins what looks like a thin UConn frontcourt and will likely be an immediate contributor this year.
