Kansas Jayhawks

There’s no need to worry about who’ll be the star ball-handler for the Jayhawks after this season, even though it’s a foregone conclusion that Devon Dotson will likely be gone to the NBA Draft. The question will be which five-star playmaker will end up choosing the team first? Grad transfer shooting guard Isaiah Moss won’t be around after a year, while both Marcus Garrett and Ochai Agbaji are much more off-guards than those who would typically handle the ball.

Thompson is one of a few star guard recruits that Kansas is after, along with Caleb Love and
Jalen Green. All have scheduled visits to the program and the odds of one of them choosing the blue blood has to be good. If I were the Jayhawks though, I would make the strongest push for Love, who is more of a facilitator and has other guards to play off of.

With four of the seven teams listed being in the Big 12, that makes the case that Thompson may end up staying local and not end up at either Michigan State or UNC. That could give the Jayhawks a major advantage, simply by being far superior to the other conference foes. Why would the five-star guard fight an uphill battle against the top team in the Big 12 instead of just joining them?
