Rongie Gordon – Montgomery, AL

PF | 6-foot-8 | 225 lbs | No. 197 overall

Although barely ranked in the top-200 for the class, Rongie Gordon is one of the top targets for Alabama in the 2020 class. He is an in-state prospect and has garnered plenty of high-major interest over the last year. In addition to Alabama, Gordon is receiving interest from the likes of Florida, Ole Miss, and Virginia Tech.

With his well-built 6-foot-8 frame, Gordon can play either frontcourt spot with regularity. This versatility will be welcomed by whichever school he chooses.

Gordon is fresh off a strong summer while playing for Atlanta Xpress on the UAA circuit. The big man posted averages of 12.0 points (.542/.364/.520), 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game across 13 contests. He runs the floor well, rebounds at a high rate, and is a strong finisher. Gordon is already very muscular and well-built as a physical presence down low. Perhaps his passing is the most underrated part of his game as he consistently finds open teammates.

There are definitely plenty of high-major programs involved in this recruiting battle but Alabama has the home-state advantage. Coach Oats is mainly looking outside of the Heart of Dixie for 2020 targets but he seems to be prioritizing Gordon. He is one of the best players from the state and would really bolster the future frontcourt for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama is heavily targeting two other primary forwards in the class but Gordon’s ability to play PF or C will allow him to function alongside most other prospects.
