Baddley’s overall season outlook
Baddley is in his senior season and it is unlikely that a major breakout campaign is coming. He has now posted back-to-back fairly similar years and fans mostly know what to expect out of him. Baddley is not going to be a go-to scorer for the Dawgs but he is also rarely a net-negative on the court as well. He is simply a reliable reserve piece with the ability to play good defense and occasionally score a few buckets.
Those pieces are still valuable even if they are not stuffing the stat sheet.
Following the arrival of Jordan Tucker at midseason last year, Baddley saw his minutes drop from 22.3 per game to just 14.9. Even though Paul Jorgensen graduated after this coming season, the likely heir to his spot in the rotation will be incoming top 100 freshman Khalif Battle.
As a result, it seems likely that Baddley will stay in the same role that he played down the stretch of last season. He is one of the fringe rotation players on the roster and will likely see ~15 minutes per game. Additionally, he could be at risk of losing playing time as Coach Jordan trims his rotation down the stretch of the season. His defense and potential shooting, though, make him a solid reserve.
Baddley brings a great attitude to the court and will be one of Butler’s senior leaders this season. His impact will be felt on the team even when he is not on the court.
This was the fifth part of an offseason series that will involve breaking down each member of the Butler basketball roster for this coming season. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.
