It’s pretty wild that Oklahoma produced two of the most purely entertaining seasons from a player this decade with Hield and Young (three if you go back to the late 2000s with Blake Griffin). Hield put together a solid four years capped off by a killer final two, while Young’s transcendent single season was enough.
Mason was the best of the cadre of Kansas candidates, with special mention going to Perry Ellis playing all 10 years of the decade for the Jayhawks.
People seem to forget how good Smart was in college.
Carter is probably the most controversial pick, but he is the essence of the typical collegiate folk hero – improved every year, known for his defensive prowess but still does a little bit of everything, leader and embodiment of a successful team with a unique playing style.
