Solomon Young

6-8 forward Solomon Young has battled injuries over his three-year college career. He dealt with a hand injury his freshman season and had his sophomore year cut short by a knee injury that required surgery. Before last season, the former 3-star recruit was dealing with a groin injury and didn’t play his first game until December 21st.

He still struggled with the injury, however, and after only four games it was announced he wouldn’t play the rest of the season and would seek a medical redshirt. In February, Young underwent surgery on his shoulder, something that had been apparently bothering him for some time.

There are clearly A LOT of questions as to whether Young can remain healthy, but if he can, he’s capable of being a difference-maker. He’s shown flashes over his career of being a strong finisher that’s capable of being a defensive presence on the interior. As mentioned previously, his help on the defensive boards would be valuable as well.

At least for now, it appears Young is healthy, something that should be encouraging for Cyclones fans. He reportedly looked good during the team’s Italian tour, scoring 17 points against Ivory Coast and 13 against the Netherlands.

Young has apparently been back to good health for some time. “I’ve been good to go for a while,” he said a few weeks before going to Italy. Hopefully, things will stay this way.
