NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Must-snag commitments in the 2020 class
Illinois needs Adam Miller
SG | 6-foot-3 | 170 lbs | No. 31 overall
Illinois is a program that seems on the verge of returning to national relevance. With a tremendous core of sophomores leading the way this season, the Fighting Illini are widely expected to leap into the upper half of the Big Ten and compete for an NCAA Tournament bid. This would be a substantial improvement from missing the Big Dance in each of the prior six seasons.
Following this coming campaign, though, the program will likely have to wave goodbye to star guard Ayo Dosunmu. Many are projecting that he will be heading to the NBA following the campaign and Coach Underwood will need to find a replacement.
Enter local product Adam Miller, a 6-foot-3 guard straight out of Chicago ranked at No. 31 in the 2020 class. A dynamic three-level scorer with a bright future, Miller would instantly fill that hole left by Dosunmu while emerging as a backcourt star right away for the program. The Fighting Illini are definitely trending in the right direction and he could be the home-state leader needed to carry them back to the top of the Big Ten.
Miller is fresh off an official visit to Champaign in mid-September but he is not expected to make his college decision for a few months. Some of the other teams involved include Arizona State and Louisville. This is a monster recruiting battle that Coach Underwood will hopefully be able to win. Landing an elite four-star is always tremendous but doing so with an in-state prospect would make it even better.
Illinois already holds a commitment from power forward Coleman Hawkins (No. 208) in this class and Miller would pair nicely with him.
