NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Must-snag commitments in the 2020 class
Alabama needs Nimari Burnett
CG | 6-foot-3 | 185 lbs | No. 22 overall
Alabama has been one of the nation’s most underrated recruiting programs for the past several years and that should continue under new head coach Nate Oats. Buffalo’s former leader is an elite in-season strategist and also already boasts a strong reputation on the recruiting trail. Sophomore Kira Lewis is the point guard poised to lead the team this season but he will likely leave afterward for the NBA Draft.
This will open a spot in the starting lineup for top-25 prospect Nimari Burnett. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is extremely highly-regarded and should be an immediate star at the college level. The Crimson Tide will need a replacement in the backcourt and he fits the bill perfectly. Burnett brings plenty of size to the table and uses his strength to consistently attack the basket. He also does a nice job creating for his teammates on the perimeter.
Burnett is an all-around contributor and showcased that on the Nike EYBL circuit. He averaged 19.1 points (.458/.307/.769), 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game this season across 20 contests with Team WhyNot (CA).
At this point, Alabama holds both crystal ball predictions for his commitment while being regarded as a slight favorite over the other contenders. Burnett’s other finalists are Texas Tech, Michigan, and Oregon. He has taken/scheduled official visits to all of them, including Alabama.
