NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Must-snag commitments in the 2020 class
Tennessee needs Jaden Springer
SG | 6-foot-5 | 195 lbs | No. 16 overall
Tennessee is fresh off back-to-back superb seasons. Head coach Rick Barnes has quickly turned the program around and there is now plenty of buzz regarding the future. Even though the Volunteers lost a few key pieces to the NBA this offseason, they are showing improvement on the recruiting trail. Tennessee already holds two early commitments from the 2020 class with wings Keon Johnson (No. 23) and Corey Walker (No. 36).
Jaden Springer, though, would be the crown jewel of the group. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is highly-regarded as the No. 16 overall recruit in the class. He boasts elite-level strength and size for his position while being able to score at all three levels. He should be an impact scorer at the college level while showcasing plenty of defensive ability. Springer has next-level potential as a future NBA player.
At this point, Tennessee holds all 12 crystal ball predictions for Springer and it feels as though a commitment is imminent in the coming weeks. Even though the Volunteers are the heavy favorite right now, there are still a few programs that are threatening as contenders. Memphis and Michigan are among those that are still very interested in competing with Tennessee for the commitment.
Springer is one of the younger players in the class but will still be an immediate impact star at the college level. Tennessee is already off to a strong start with the 2020 group and Springer would be an excellent snag. The future certainly looks bright in “Good ol’ Rocky Top.”
